Smart sensor delivers more touch-powered features

A smart fingerprint sensor from AuthenTec provides a number of innovative features in the recently launched NTT docomo PRIME series F-09A smartphone manufactured by Fujitsu. The handset is the 18th Fujitsu phone to use an AuthenTec sensor and the third Fujitsu phone to use AuthenTec's TrueNav user navigation capability.

The F-09A smartphone uses AuthenTec's AES1711 sensor for several functions including touch-powered user navigation, personalisation, convenience and security. The AES1711 sensor features novel TouchStone packaging technology for a smooth, durable sensor finish for touchpad-like navigation and improved aesthetics. The phone also incorporates AuthenTec's TrueNav technology, leveraging the AES1711's high-definition pixel array and subsurface imaging to track small movements of a finger across the sensor and translate that motion into on-screen actions.

The F-09A is based on a Symbian operating system and features a 3.4in widescreen VGA touchscreen display, 8.1Mpixel camera with Autofocus, built-in GPS using Mobile Google Maps with Street View, e-Wallet mobile payment capability, 3G and GSM compatibility, i-appli touch Near Field Communications, and a 1Seg mobile TV tuner.
